Course: Grassen Mountaineering Tour for Beginners (Level 1)
The mountain world is fascinating. Vast glaciers, jagged ridges, steep flanks! It is all the more wonderful to be out and about in this unspoilt landscape and to stand on a summit far away from everyday life. Our Mountain Guides will introduce you to mountaineering safely and competently.

On this training tour you can enjoy your first mountaineering tour safely and well supervised by our Mountain Guides. You will learn the following skills:
- Knots
- Walking with crampons
- Handling the ice axe
- Rope handling on rock and ice
- Tour preparation
- Equipment information
After the course you can take part in easy mountaineering tours led by a Mountain Guide, e.g. Wildstrubel, Pollux, etc.
Day 1
Individual arrival at the meeting point. Welcome and orientation about the upcoming days by the Mountain Guide. Ascent to the Sustli hut from where the training content and material knowledge will be taught. Afterwards, enjoy a delicious evening meal in the hut and a cosy get-together. (Distance: approx. 1.5km, walking time: approx. 1 hour, ascent/descent: 360/2 metres)
Day 2
On a rocky path to the Stössenfirn, with crampons and ice axe, roped up over the glacier to the Stössensattel, over the east ridge with a marvellous panoramic view to the summit. From here you can see as far as Lake Zug, Lake Brienz, the Bernese and Glarus Alps and deep into the Engelberg Valley. The way back is on the ascent route, so we can leave any luggage we don't need at the hut. Descent via the hut path. Individual journey home. (Distance 8.5km. Walking time: 6.5h. Ascent/descent: 740/1050 metres)

Our mountain guide will bring the ordered rental equipment to the agreed meeting point. The following equipment can be hired from us:
- Glacier-Set (rope harness, crampons, ice axe)
Please note that the rucksack with the equipment should not weigh more than 8 to 10 kg (crampons, ice axe, rope harness weigh around 1.5 kg).
